I-85 express lanes & Peach Pass
The I-85 reversible express lanes run from the county’s Old Peachtree Road interchange toward downtown, tolled dynamically with Peach Pass and free for qualifying carpools. They are the single biggest lever for Atlanta-bound Gwinnett commuters, and Grayson’s average of about 36 minutes assumes the mainstream of normal traffic, not the worst peak.
GRTA Xpress commuter coaches
Seven Xpress routes (411 through 416, plus 419) run weekdays from Gwinnett park-and-rides at Buford, Hamilton Mill, Sugarloaf Mills, Dacula, Indian Trail, and Hewatt Road into downtown, midtown, and Emory. For hybrid commuters, Xpress turns the office day into a meeting you can do on the bus.
Ride Gwinnett to MARTA rail
Ride Gwinnett, the county’s transit service, connects Sugarloaf Mills and Gwinnett Place to the Doraville MARTA station, plus Norcross and Snellville to Indian Creek station. Transfers to MARTA are free with a Breeze card, which puts rail access to downtown, Midtown, Buckhead, and the airport within reach of the county’s western edge.
Remote, hybrid & the county’s own jobs
Gwinnett is its own employment market: government in Lawrenceville, healthcare across three hospital campuses, corporate offices in Duluth and Suwanee, and the Mall of Georgia retail district. Buford
North GwinnettBuford anchors the I-985 / GA 20 corridor at the north end of the county. Central GwinnettSnellville sits at the junction of US 78 and GA 124, with Ronald Reagan Parkway and Sugarloaf Parkway giving quick runs to the I-85 corridor.
